JFVVI Summer Student

Term: May 1- August 30, 2021
This Victoria, BC position will give the youth an opportunity to work in a granting organization which provides funding to member organizations on Vancouver Island. This position partners with a family services organization which provides supportive services meant to strengthen families, children and individuals within the context of their unique needs and traditions.
This position is mainly worked remotely with regular on-site meetings with particular focus on Covid -19 protections as mandated by the Island Health Unit.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
-Student will research and develop accessible data bases for web publication incorporating resources for local food security, housing support and reducing social isolation. This will include liaising with municipal and community health organizations and local businesses.
- Student will research and develop annual curricula for PJ Library books, including becoming familiar with PJ Library books, holiday themes and PJ Library values. The curriculum will be appropriate for preschool and early elementary children and provide virtual as well as in person options for program delivery.
- A successful candidate will be able to recruit and mentor parent volunteers for assistance with future and ongoing programming delivery.
-Student will provide PJ Library events during their employment term.
- Student will provide administrative support of the Executive Director. Primarily reviewing previous governance and meeting minutes to digitally document and index important motions and actions taken by the Board of Directors over a 10-year period.

This position is dependent upon grant approval from the Federal Student Work Experience Program.
