Jewish Spiritual Care Provider at the University of Victoria
Part-time Volunteer Opportunity
The Jewish Federation of Victoria and Vancouver Island (JFVVI) is pleased to post this volunteer position.
The goal of the Jewish Spiritual Care Provider (SCP) on campus is to provide assistance to University students of all faiths and cultural backgrounds who are far from home and seek answers to their questions from a Jewish perspective.
The Jewish SCP does not have to be a rabbi but must demonstrate the following skills:
- An open heart with a working knowledge of Jewish values, culture, and ritual
- Good communication skills
- Openness to diversity and inclusion in all its forms
The UVic Spiritual Care Provider will work with the UVic Multifaith Team which is an integral part of the Student Wellness Centre. This includes monthly meetings with the other SCPs, approximately 8-12 hours/month working directly or indirectly with UVic students and a collaborative relationship with Hillel UVic’s Lead Campus Professional. An Honorarium along with compensation for expenses will be provided by JFVVI to the Jewish SCP.
