The Jewish Federation of Victoria and Vancouver Island, in partnership with PJ Library, is excited to bring the PJ Library program to Victoria and Vancouver Island – including the Gulf Islands adjacent to Vancouver Island.

We don’t need to tell you that reading to your children is important. Study after study has shown it impacts a child’s development. Even the mere presence of books in a home increases the level of education they can reach. But finding the right books and making the time to read as a family can be hard. That’s where PJ Library comes in.
PJ Library sends free Jewish children’s books to families across the world every month. We know that something magical happens when parents sit down together to read with their children. PJ Library shares Jewish stories that can help your family talk together about values and traditions that are important to you.
Your children are learning about the world around them through the stories they hear. PJ Library books can bring Jewish ideas and inspiration for you and your children to share together.

Families with children ages 6 months through 8 years old with Judaism as part of their lives, are welcome to sign up. PJ Library welcomes all Jewish families, whatever your background, knowledge, family make-up or observance may be.
There is NO COST to be a part of this program! This is a gift from the Jewish Federation of Victoria and Vancouver Island, Jewish Federations of Canada, and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.

PJ Our Way is the next chapter of PJ Library® for kids ages 9-11. Kids throughout North America are now eligible to enroll in the program from the day they turn 8.5 through the day before their 12th birthday. The Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF), with the generous support of PJ Alliance Partners, provides PJ Our Way subscriptions at no cost to families or partner communities.
PJ Our Way is designed to meet the developmental needs of 9-11 year-olds by offering book choice and creative outlets. Even if they have been PJ Library subscribers, parents and children will need to enroll in PJ Our Way at our website pjourway.org. Enrollment must be completed by a parent or guardian.
From the 1st-10th of every month, subscribers can visit the website pjourway.org to choose one book from a selection of four high-quality chapter books and graphic novels with Jewish themes. Books are then mailed to kids’ homes, and generally arrive about 4-6 weeks after they were selected. Subscribers can also post comments and reviews about the books onto the website.
